Celebrating Another Great Year for Moxon Sports Lawn Bowls
The Moxon Sports Lawn Bowls Club recently came together to celebrate another successful year at the club’s Annual General Meeting, recognising the achievements of its dedicated bowlers and volunteers.
Members enjoyed a friendly social game of bowls before gathering in the Bistro 2196 to share lunch and celebrate the club’s annual presentations.
The day recognised the club’s bowls champions, congratulating those whose skill, commitment and sportsmanship stood out throughout the year. Their achievements reflect the strong sense of camaraderie and passion shared by the entire bowls community.
This year also marked a strong performance in pennant competition across the Metro Southwest Region. The club achieved an impressive 3rd place in the Open Gender Pennant and secured 1st place in the Grade 4 Women’s Pennant, highlighting the continued growth and success of the club’s competitive teams. Following this achievement, the ladies will go on to represent the club at the State Pennant Playoffs from 3–6 August at Wysman Park, proudly sponsored by Canterbury Leagues Club.
The AGM also welcomed the club’s newly elected committee, with Darrell Roberts appointed as President and Lesley Coombes continuing in her role as Secretary. A heartfelt thank you was extended to the outgoing committee and all the volunteers who have helped support the club over the past year. Their dedication has ensured the continued success of the lawn bowls group, which is proudly supported by a small but active and enthusiastic group of ladies and men bowlers.
Congratulations to all award recipients and committee members. We look forward to another fantastic year on the greens.
Looking ahead, the club is preparing to host the Bruce Snell Memorial 3 Bowls Pairs Tournament on Sunday 20 September. The annual event welcomes men’s, women’s and mixed teams and is expected to attract bowlers from across the region for a day of friendly competition and community spirit. Anyone interested in entering or learning more about the tournament is encouraged to contact Club Secretary Lesley Coombes.
